Sudan
Established in March 2021, the Support Group for Democratic Transition in Sudan is a multidisciplinary platform of 15 leading Sudanese experts actively engaged in shaping the country’s democratic future. Working on a non-partisan basis, the brain trust aims to contribute to a successful and inclusive transition, building on Sudan’s distinctive history and on globally proven peacebuilding methods.
Locally-Led and Inclusive National Dialogue
The Support Group for Democratic Transition in Sudan has developed and promoted a vision for a locally-led, multi-phase and inclusive national dialogue process.
In addition, the group provides trust-building facilitation with the different civilian groupings in the country, taking into consideration the importance of strategic unity as a precondition of enduring democratic solutions.
In parallel, the group seeks to create better understanding in the international community of the complex local context and the realistic options for a locally-led national dialogue process and democratic transition.
