Ali Wanli is a Communications Assistant at the Institute for Integrated Transitions (IFIT) based at its headquarters in Barcelona. Prior to joining IFIT, he participated in establishing and running communication units for two humanitarian community-based organisations in Cairo, Egypt; the Syria Al-Gad Relief Foundation and the Fard Foundation, serving Syrian and Sudani refugee communities. In addition, Ali was involved with many emerging diasporic Syrian civil society groups in Egypt between 2014 and 2017.
Ali is a Syrian citizen who holds a Master’s degree in International Studies on Media, Power and Difference from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. His master’s thesis discussed the discourse of Arab queer activism, analysing Lebanese LGBTQ organisations’ narratives. Ali holds a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Mass Communication from Cairo University and Damascus University.
