IFIT Staff / Research Associate
Isabelita Mercado is a Research Associate at the Institute for Integrated Transitions. She has a BA in Law from Universidad del Rosario and an MA in Human Rights and Democratisation from Externado University. Her master’s thesis focused on “International standards regarding the investigation of sexual violence within the Special Jurisdiction for Peace”.
Prior to joining IFIT, Isabelita worked closely with Humberto de la Calle, head of the government’s negotiation team in the peace talks with the FARC, during his presidential campaign, concentrating on political analysis and key messages for the current Colombian transition. Previously, she worked for three years with the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace of Colombia as the High Commissioner’s private secretary and as an advisor to the government’s transitional justice team on ensuring legislative readiness for the implementation of the peace agreement.
