Samuel Murphy
Samuel Murphy is an intern with IFIT’s Latin America and Caribbean programme at the Institute for Integrated Transitions (IFIT).
Samuel is a student at the University of Bristol, UK, where he studies BA Politics and Spanish. Alongside his academic career, he has worked in political research, first working with @tomorrowsmps on researching local political candidate selection processes within UK political parties, and later for West England Bylines, a citizen journalism publication where he has written articles on a number of political issues in the UK, in particular on youth participation.
Within his university degree he has taken a particular interest in Latin American politics, producing essays on neoliberal economic policy in Argentina, the significance of the ideas of ‘memory’ and ‘identity’ in the continent’s political history, and most recently a research project on attitudes towards Venezuelan immigration in Colombia.
