IFIT has developed an indicative text for the proposed treaty on peace negotiations. The draft was preceded by nearly three years of in-depth research, expert interviews and private workshops, as well as a high-level International Law and Peace Summit (hosted in July 2019) and the creation of an international Expert Advisory Group.

The next step is an inclusive global consultation process encompassing:

• A series of high-level regional and thematic workshops to discuss the treaty idea and provide feedback on the indicative text
• Intensive bilateral outreach with a global mix of governments, multilateral organisations, academia, faith-based entities, NGOs, and think tanks
• Additional expert interviews and commissioned case studies
