Mexico

In the fall of 2019, IFIT launched the Mexican Peacebuilding Support Group: an independent brain trust comprised of 15 multidisciplinary Mexican thought leaders seeking to strengthen the capacity of government and civil society to apply integrated conflict resolution methods to prevent and reduce violence in the country, while addressing the consequences of past violence. The group’s work involves developing creative and realistic policy recommendations that draw on relevant international experiences as well as on the specificities of the Mexican context.

By supporting and catalysing conversation and dialogue within Mexico’s complex environment, the group seeks to build bridges among diverse sectors of society and outline a vision of a peaceful nation. The brain trust’s ultimate objective is to facilitate local conditions that will allow a state peacebuilding policy to be designed and implemented, via a bottom-up and evidence-informed approach.
